Two Themes
theme 1: Love conquers all
The author is saying with this theme that love is a force, its own entity. It cannot be forgotten, but cannot be forced. Once love is part of you, it will always be within you. Whether its for good or for bad it's power will control you in a way nothing else can. Here Noah is being spoken to in his nursing home by one of the doctors. They are saying how impressed they are by Noah's ability to bring Allie's memory back for such long periods of time.
"Four hours? Noah, thats... incredible. I can only nod. He goes on, shaking his head. Ive never seen anything like it, or even heard about it. I guess thats what love is all about." (sparks 195). The doctors have never seen anything like this. Alzheimer's does not get better throughout the day. Allie and Noah's love is making it. The love defies science, and it forces Allie to remember, and to love Noah once again, if only for a little while. Love is more powerful than disease.
theme 2: remorse can change you
With this theme the author is saying that remorse, although one may think they have forgotten theirs, will creep back into you. Remorse is strong and it will will make one do something that maybe they shouldn't. Once "forgotten", it will, inconspicuously, slip back into ones thoughts, and they will start thinking of their remorse again. It was never gone. Soon one will not be able to enjoy the things they once did, because the remorse is there. Until remorse is dealt with, it shall remain, and it shall change its victim. Here Allie is about to walk out of her motel to go visit Noah.
"Its now or never, she whispered, then picked up her things and went to the door. She paused only slightly before opening it and going downstairs." Allie has a fiancé. She doesn't have to go see Noah, but she does. She knows very well that what she's doing can destroy her life, but she goes. The remorse ate away at her, and she had to take the risk. The pain of her regret, of the 'what if', is stronger than her need for a stable life.

review of book
I think this book was an excellent book. In the beginning it can feel a little slow but then it sped up real fast. The most important thing to do with this book is sitck with it because once it starts to speed up I couldn't put it down. It is a beautiful love story so for all you romantics out there this is the book for you. Also if you liked other Nicholas Sparks books or movies like Safe Haven, Message in a Bottle, The Lucky One, Dear John, etc. you will like this book. Over all I rate this book 4 stars. ****
why should I care
This book was very insightful. It showed me that happiness is most important in life. I think if a reader that cared too much about what other people thought of them read this book it could help them realize that its what you care about and what you know will make you happy is whats really important. This book affected me by making me think about my own life values and helping me become a person that focuses on the happiness of myself and in turn sharing that self made happiness with others.
